World Breastfeeding Week Series: Angela & Halo

Q: What has been the most joyous aspect of breastfeeding for you?

Breastfeeding to me is so much more than food. The connection breastfeeding has given me with my baby girl is one I cherish every day. I am also grateful for the innate intelligence of my body to nourish her & keep her healthy & thriving.

Q: What has been the most challenging aspect of breastfeeding?

The start! Those first few days & weeks were hard. The discomfort & pain on top of fatigue & overwhelm were a challenge, but each day it got a little easier & now I love this time with my bub.

Q: What would you like other breastfeeding mothers/parents to know about breastfeeding?

Do some preparation if breastfeeding is important to you before the birth, the more you understand & educate yourself the better. Get support from an aligned lactation consultant early (especially in those first few days if you can). And persist, that doesn’t mean suffering but keep seeking support if you need it, it’s a worthwhile journey for you & your baby.
