World Breastfeeding Week Series: Zanita & Sadie

Q: What has been the most joyous aspect of breastfeeding for you?

The way that breastfeeding has grown the intimacy between myself and my daughters, along with their increased emotional security, has been a most precious treasure.

Q: What has been the most challenging aspect of breastfeeding?

Forfeiting an element of my own bodily autonomy has reverberated into my romantic relationship with my partner and it’s a difficult thing to reconcile. I was tandem feeding both my girls for around 4/5 months and the whole ‘touched out’ feeling was very real. There’s only so much Mumma to go around!

Q: What would you like other breastfeeding mothers/parents to know about breastfeeding?

I found breastfeeding so much more involved than I was ever prepared for – don’t hesitate to reach out for support in even the smallest matters. What you’re doing is incredibly important.
